Bad news...

I received an email today from Android Market:

This is a notification that the application, Google Voice Callback FREE, with package ID com.xinlu.gvdial has been removed from Android Market due to a violation of the Developer Content Policy. For specific details regarding this particular suspension, please see the Intellectual Property and Impersonation or Deceptive Behavior sections of our Content Policy. Please also be advised that aspects of your application’s listing in Market, including but not limited to the title, logo, description, and posted screenshots are also subject to the above terms.

So, while I wait for response from the Android Market Team, Google Voice Callback will be (hopefully temporarily) unavailable on the Android Market.

[Since I'm completely inept on the artistic side, I smash the Google Voice icon with a check mark to make an icon for the app, which, in hindsight, is probably the cause of suspension. Finger crossed that Google will let me publish a new version after changing the icon...] Update: the app is still available on Amazon Appstore. If you bought the donate version on Android Market and do not want to purchase the donate version again, please send me an email.

Until you're able to set Google straight; would you consider hosting the app here on your blog?

It would be a terrific help for us users.

Great idea to post it here for download! I need that app to make my new Bionic work. I'm bummed because I had it installed on my old Droid but now I can't get it on my new phone. :-(

Can you send it to me?

It's still on the market even though it might not be in the search engines. :-)

Also, I found a version that installs on Bionic.

Yay! Now if only I could get my Sipdroid working!

I was wondering what happened. I would totally buy the donate version if I had the money. This app is the best of its kind imho. Let me know if you need help making a new icon!

I need help so badly with my configuration! I have spent many days trying to get calling set up on my droid Bionic. I had it working fine on my old droid but I can't get the new phone to ring with the same setup. I tried adding an extension to my pbxes account. I also tried getting another phone # from ipkall. It all works great on the old droid but nothing ever rings on the bionic no matter what I try. :-( I have 2 versions of sipdroid running and I can't figure out how to end one of them. I also installed csip simple.
Can someone call me and talk me through it?

Very sad... cannot do long distance now. Perhaps you can get the app to be hosted on Sourceforge. They host apps for free I believe. At least as a temporary measure. Merry Christmas. This is a good app.

Guys,

Why don't you just download the amazon app store apk file. Both versions of the program free and 2.99 are both there!

I have a Lenovo K1 running 3.2. The adroidmaket gave me a message that your app is incompatible with K1. Any suggestions?

Yeah, when will the free version be back? I need it bad! :)

On Dec 14 I posted links to where you can download it. Just copy and paste the link.

When I use the app now the callback is showing up as "Private Number" instead of my google voice number. It used to work fine, is it still working for you?

Bummer, I was just on the Android Market to leave GV Callback a stellar review b/c of all the free calls I've been able to make thanks to you! I hope they let it come back soon :)

Thanks for the link. I had to factory reset my phone and I was in a panic when I couldn't find it. What irritates me more is that I paid for my version!

Anonymous said...

So the link doesn't work at all! :-( Now I've got to find another app that does the same thing.

Here's where the link redirects. I tried it on my phone AND my laptop...

I don't want to install the Amazon Appstore on my phone. Please provide a way to install without having to go through Amazon. I paid for the donate version and don't want to pay again.

Bummer, i paid for the full version and just reset my phone only to find its missing now. Being that your post was from December I assume this app is dead now never to return?

I found it here...

http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/communication/google-voice-callback-free_fpin.html

However, I used Titanium Backup back when I first got it. I've changed phones since then, along with with my wife's phone, and we've been able to restore it on the next device.

I'm totally bummed that it disappeared from the market, but I still have it and it works great. It's saved me a lot of money. All I had to do was put my Google Voice number in my Friends and Family account. I haven't gone over on my minutes since.

It'd be great if someone trustworthy could up the apk somewhere.

This is the last version I was able to get from Android Market before Google removed it.

It suddenly says Google voice callback has stopped. What could be the reason?

Abu Sahl said...

Its up on the Amazon market.

I loved your app until Google disabled the ability to callback to Canadian numbers. Would it be possible to use the settings to control Google Voice's dial out feature? I really love the way I could control when and to whom I dial using GV.

Any updates on submitting a new app to google to get this up again?

This app appears to no longer work. Possible error: You do not seem to have a google voice acccount setup.Setup your account at....

This just started popping up about a week ago. For unrelated reason, I did factory reset on phone, and get the same error. Maybe google is rejecting this app now?

Any luck with the app, it is the best one I have ever used
