Calendar Quick Add v0.4 is out!

What's new in v0.4?

  • Voice input
  • A better looking main screen.
  • Revamped help system.
  • Bug fixes.

The voice input is a biggie, as you can now dictate your calendar event to your phone, and make your phone your personal assistant.

Enjoy :)

Hi Xinlu,

Thanks for the awesome app. I had a quick question though. The voice search works fine for me if I select it from within the app. However the documentation seems to suggest that I could get this to work even if I selected the voice search (the mic button) from the regular android search dialog. However, everytime I try to enter a voice command like "Dinner at 8", this automatically opens up Google in the browser with a search for "Dinner at 8".

Is this what is expected or should it work with voice commands even from the voice search from homescreen?

Just to repeat, the voice search works just fine when called from within the app, but not from the home screen. On the other hand, a text input of "dinner at 8" in the search menu works as expected again with the option to add it as an event to my calendars.

I'd really appreciate if you could let me know if this is an app limitation or something that I need to fix on my phone. Thanks for all the hard work!

Cheers

Hi Sudeep,

It is indeed a limitation in the Android platform that you cannot perform voice search from the home screen. The mic button on the Quick Search Box will always bring you to Google search, unfortunately.

I'll add a home screen shortcut option for voice input in the next version so that there is a one click way to access voice input from the home screen.
